KOSBE Works Hard for You

THE MISSION of the Kingsport Office of Small Business Development & Entrepreneurship (KOSBE), an in-house program of the Kingsport Area Chamber of Commerce, is to actively assist in the establishment of new small businesses and the growth and development of existing small businesses in Kingsport, Tennessee. KOSBE is a 501(c)(3) non-profit economic development organization that represents a public-private partnership between the City of Kingsport and the Kingsport Area Chamber of Commerce.

PUBLIC/PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP

In 2004, the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce and City of Kingsport jointly formed the Kingsport Office of Small Business Development & Entrepreneurship (KOSBE), a 501(c)(3) non-profit economic development organization, to specifically nurture, counsel and encourage the continued robust growth and development of startups and existing small businesses in Kingsport, Tennessee. Services provided by KOSBE include but are not limited to: business plan writing; business formations; education and training; grants, loans and capital sources; access to new markets; business development; sales and marketing assistance; e-commerce facilitation; networking opportunities; professional services referrals; connection to international trade; small business certification guidance; computer and software support; and lead generation.

OVERVIEW AND HISTORY 

First created in 1981 the Kingsport Area Chamber of Commerce is a business membership organization comprised of nearly 1,000 members, and has been accredited by the U.S. Chamber of commerce for 20 years. Small business has always been an enormously vital part of the Kingsport community. In fact, small businesses have historically represented more than half of all new job opportunities in Kingsport, and 85 percent of the Kingsport Chamber's membership is comprised of small businesses. Accordingly, the Kingsport Chamber actively works to provide long-term and short-term training programs to meet the changing needs of the small business community. The Kingsport Office of Small Business Development and Entrepreneurship (KOSBE) is an in-house program of the Kingsport Area Chamber.
