Kingsport – August 7, 2008 – Today, Jantry Shupe, currently the Manager of Oak Hill Funeral Home and a member of the City of Kingsport Board of Mayor and Aldermen, has launched a new start-up company based in Kingsport, Tennessee. The online superstore WWW.SHUPESECURITY.COM offers direct shipment of over 300 high performance security-related products for home or business use that are not available in local stores, from affordable fuel protection and anti-theft gadgets, PC-based home security systems, spy cams, wireless and remote video cameras, to portable video recording systems, complete surveillance and protection systems, body-worn hidden cameras and listening devices.
Businesses and consumers have increasingly turned to surveillance and security equipment to mitigate risk and protect irreplaceable and priceless assets. Major retailers use a combination of security equipment to not only secure premises against would-be-thieves, but to monitor and track shopping activity such as buyer habits, traffic patterns, and customer service. Individuals continue to seek out and implement the best available protection for their families and valuables. “Customer pull is definitely driving the current security boom,” says, Jantry Shupe, founder of Shupe Security Company. “Studies indicate that nearly five billion dollars will be spent by the year 2010 on surveillance cameras alone --be it for consumer or business use. We all have renewed interest in protecting what is ours, because we have to work harder and longer for nice things, and thieves and criminals are a lot smarter and less obvious than they used to be.”
Shupe Security Company is founded on a fundamental philosophy of giving back to the community. Presently, Jantry Shupe serves the community as a member of: the Symphony of the Mountains Board of Directors, Tusculum College President’s Advisory Committee, Sullivan County Government Relations Committee, Eastman Chemical Company Community Advisory Panel, and generatioNEXT Magazine Editorial Advisory Board. Shupe says, “These volunteer activities may seem like a lot of work, but giving back to the community and being involved in local economic development is an integral part of our vision and is just the right way to be. That is what makes our region so great, and that is precisely why I have decided to give back ten percent of our quarterly earnings -- be it great or small –to various charitable organizations as an act of community spirit.” WWW.SHUPESECURITY.COM will give ten percent of quarterly earnings to various community nonprofit organizations based on need and proposed use of the funds.
Shupe is planning to distribute the first donation at the beginning of the fourth quarter 2008, contingent upon sales since July. Proposals will be accepted through the Kingsport Office of Small Business Development & Entrepreneurship (KOSBE), which will help Shupe review the anticipated plethora of solicitations on a quarterly basis going forward.
All of the products available at WWW.SHUPESECURITY.COM are legal to own and most items are manufactured and warehoused in the United States. Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover are accepted to buy merchandise online at WWW.SHUPESECURITY.COM.
When asked how the new business startup will impact his current workload, Shupe said, “Starting up a home-based online small business versus a traditional bricks and mortar business enables me to continue to invest the majority of my time performing my duties as the Manager of Oak Hill Funeral Home and City of Kingsport Alderman. The advantages of an online business versus an offline business are vast. The risk and startup cost are low and it takes less time to get underway and manage. No matter what I am doing or where I am, people from all around the country are able to visit to my website 24 hours a day, and I can work on my business when it is convenient for me, so it will not interfere with my current responsibilities.”
